HERITAGE COMMISSION
What is the purpose of the Heritage Commission? The Laconia Heritage Commission was established to ensure the proper recognition, use and protection of resources, primarily man-made, that are valuable for their historic, cultural, aesthetic, or community significance within their natural built or cultural context in accordance with RSA 684:44-a. In the past, the Heritage Commission has been involved in attempts to preserve the Hathaway House, St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Belknap Mill.
Mae Williams, Architectural Historian and Preservation Consultant, was employed to do a study of historical resources in Laconia's downtown district. This study was published on May 4, 2021 and is available to download here: Laconia Downtown Commercial District Area Form
