The city has adopted an ordinance to regulate Short Term Rentals. A short term rental is generally defined as a rental occurring in a residential unit (i.e. not a hotel/motel, etc) that lasts from one night to 14 nights. Examples of this would be rental of a summer cottage or other residential unit for a weekend or week using an on-line platform or other mechanism. It does not include a traditional “roommate” type situation.
The ordinance was adopted by the City Council on December 9, 2019. The Council is considering further amendments and will be taking that up in January 2020.
