Water meters are changed periodically to comply with the Public Utilities Commission's Rules and Regulations, the American Water Works Association and in accordance with the Laconia Water Works’ Tariff. The Water Department has an annual program that replaces meters and there is no cost to the property owner. Our goal is to change out 600 meters over the winter months.
The Water Department will contact those property owners whose water meters are to be changed. We are in the process of sending letters and making phone calls to schedule appointments. This process takes approximately 20-30 minutes.
