At 3:48 PM Laconia Fire Department was dispatched to the Weirs Beach/ Winnipesaukee Pier and docks for a boat fire with explosion and reports of people in the water. Weirs Station Engine 5 arrived on scene and confirmed a boat fire near the docks. Engine 5’s crew accessed the LFD Rescue Boat and was able to simultaneously confirm no occupants were in the water and used a special hook to get control of the boat so it would not drift into any other boats or buildings. Gilford Fire Department’s fire boat arrived and the two companies worked together to extinguish the fire. There were multiple people on the boat, but only one person was transported to Lakes Region General Hospital. with non-life-threatening injuries.

Estimated loss is $30,000.
Laconia Fire, and Laconia Police were assisted at the scene by Gilford Fire, Stewarts Ambulance, while Tilton-Northfield Fire, Meredith Fire and Stewarts ambulance covered the City.
