Zoning Task Force
The Laconia Zoning Task Force(ZTF) was created in June of 2013 in order to begin the process of updating the Zoning Ordinance.
The ZTF consists of 3 ZBA members, 3 Planning Board members, a member of the Weirs Action Committee, a member of the Laconia Main Street Initiative, and a member-at-large.
The ZTF is charged with vetting zoning ordinance changes and obtaining public input prior to the Planning Board public hearing. The Planning Board holds a public hearing and makes a recommendation to the City Council. It is the City Council that makes the final decision on whether or not to adopt an ordinance change.
In June of 2017 a newly passed RSA will come into effect that will change the way Laconia addresses our Accessory Dwelling Units in our Zoning Ordinance. The ZTF will work to draft recommended language in compliance with the new RSAs and will send that recommended language to the Planning Board for consideration. The ZTF will hold its first meeting on this matter on September 29, 2106 at 11 AM in Room 200A, City Hall.
Final draft of zoning ordinance change was recommended to the ZBA on August 8, 2013. This was heard by the Planning Board on December 12, 2014 but was not recommended to City Council.
